Anyone here watched it? I did, and I quite liked it. Not as good as it used to be, but I'm willing to give Smith some more time. The new Doctor... 963380

I get my info about the new episodes from a combination of wikipedia entries and imdb posts, so from them the first episode looks mighty good!

Yes it was alright, but not that I was all crazy about it. But I am one of those who never likes beginnings of anything (TV show or movie)So at the moment I dont have a proper opinion, I am waiting for the next ep. Though it looked like there will be another "Mickey" (or how you spell it), then again might be not, cause I daupt they would do the same.

I don't know, they had Martha Jones fall for the Doctor like Rose Tyler did, even if in her case it was all one-sided. So they have repeated certain story threads before.
Then there are the countless Daleks that keep turning up end of series. Hopefully we get something original with Matt's first season finale.I did hear the Cybermen are back. I just hope to God they are the Cybermen from the classic series and not more rejects from Pete's World. The new Doctor... 850882

Well the is a hope, its a new production team, and I guess they want to be different and fresh. After all they redesigned the Tardis and logos and all that. well might be they went a bit too far with that!

LoL I dont mind, they are all the same to me. But I wish they were more terrifieng.
And the crying angels are coming back, which is good.

That's the thing isn't it, I mean the Cybermen now days just are not that terrifying to me like the Cybermen of yesteryear.

Yes a LOT of speculating is going on which is par the course for a series like Dr Who! The new Doctor... 212506

Yep, that "speculation" sort of makes everything more interesting and shows the interest.

I just wish they'll make everything more scary and in a way more "alien" as it should be in the first place.

What I always wonder is that the Doctor keeps getting stuck on Earth. He has all the Universe open to him, but he is like glued to Earth...places varies, time varies, but humans stay. Same with todays new ep (altrough it worked fine) Oh and the best - its always UK and London. LOL

Well he did end up in San Francisco USA in the much lamented TV Movie with Paul McGann as the 8th Doctor.
But you make an excellent point. Why Earth? I assure you that was not always the way it happened in the classic serials. Sometimes yes especially in the early to mid 1970s but then he was exiled to Earth by the Time Lords.
As Fifth Doctor Peter Davison once said- speaking to his Tardis- "Why Earth again?" The new Doctor... 319468

One would think the story ideas would be limitless and though earth is his favorite planet, the Doctor needs to visit some new planets this season to keep interest up.

Exactly, the whole idea of DW is that it can be so borderless. Then again, I enjoyed the new series a lot, and after all, they are all I know.
    Well, we'll see.

So, I just came from IMDB boards...and well... I realised I am SO out of my dept! Didnt realise R. T Davis era was so hated! The new Doctor... 319468 So this is the price for not watching the old series. :p

Back to the topic. The new Doctor... 910368
Well, still not settled with the 11th. I liked Tennant from literary the first sight, Eccleston...after like 2 eps (even though I saw him after Tennant, howerer he still seemed right as the Doctor) but with Smith still waiting.

Sadly the WHO imdb boards are filled with petty mongrels who like to openly complain and criticise anything that doesn't meet their high expectations. I wouldn't give them a second thought.

To the topic, I believed in both Eccleston and Tennant as the Doctor from their opening episodes, in Tennant's case only after he stabilised and changed into his new costume though. Eccleston was from the get go.

True, IMDB boards is like THE harshest place ever (not just with DW)! Who the hell knows what those people want!

I would say I avoid the place like the plague but that is my number one place to go for general movie-TV information.
But some days I just get fed up with all the rudeness and backbiting.
So which episode works best for a season opener-The Christmas Invasion which introduced Tennant properly, or New Earth which technically was the season opener?

Yep, its deff the first place for info.

Hmm.I suppose New Earth, " for the story. Plus the end with Face of Bow sets up the return of the Master. Chritmas Invasion was more of a "before everything starts" thing.

Good call. I have to agree. New Earth has the new season vibe.I like the opening moments when they show the Doctor revving up the Tardis and grinning like a loon, as Rose hugs her mom and Mickey goodbye. The new Doctor... 581899
